  Resting Blood Pressure >>  Used to Classify & Treat Blood Pressure
  Classification of bp >>  Classification Categories & Use
  Hypertension >>  Resting bp is abnormally high
  Systolic Blood Pressure >>  Highest heart beat pressure 128/85

Pulse Pressure (PP)

Pulse Pressure (PP) is the difference in blood pressure between Systolic (SP) and Diastolic (DP) pressures.

PP = SP - DP

An optimal "Resting Pulse Pressure" for a person under 50 is approximately

45 +/- 10 mm Hg

PP usually increases with age and is affected by Pulse Rate and Systolic Pressure.

PP is a screening indicator of the resiliency or hardening of the arteries.
