Today's Homework:    Measure your Resting bp

Do Not Erase Basic Information
Blood Pressure (bp) >>  The pressure of the beating heart
Resting Blood Pressure >>  Used to Classify & Treat Blood Pressure
Classification of bp >>  Classification Categories & Use
Hypertension >>  Resting bp is abnormally high
Systolic Blood Pressure >>  Highest heart beat pressure 128/85
Diastolic Blood Pressure >>  Lowest heart beat pressure  128/85
Pulse or Pulse Rate >>  Number of heart beats per minute
  Pulse Pressure >>  PP = SP-DP   (128-85 = 43)   PP = 43
Mean Arterial Pressure >>  Estimation of average artery pressure
Body Mass Index >>  Calculation:  Weight vs. Height
mm Hg (pressure units) >>  Millimeters (mm) of Mercury (Hg)
Average Blood Pressure >>  Used to Diagnose & Treat Hypertension
White Coat Syndrome >>  bp increases only in the MD office
Home Blood Pressure >>  Self measured bp outside MD office

Diastolic Pressure (DP)

After the heart beats and pumps, the inflated arteries continue to force blood downstream while the heart refills.
DP is the measure of the lowest pressure recorded while the heart is refilling and reported as the 2nd value:

128/85

An Optimal Resting DP is less than 80 mm Hg.

Blood Pressure (bp) should be measured while "at rest".
